We Need Your Support! As the Central New Jersey population continues to grow substantially, so does the need for heart care services. For women, cardiovascular disease already ranks first among all disease categories in hospital discharges, according to the American Heart Association. This growing need is one of the reasons Somerset Medical Center is seeking to further expand its cardiology program by bringing cardiac surgery to the Somerset County region. The medical center has one of the states highest quality and volume cardiology programs, and has everything in place to provide cardiac surgerythe facilities, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, support staff and large numbers of patients. In fact, it has more cardiac admissions than three-quarters of the New Jersey hospitals providing cardiac surgery. Due to current state regulations, Somerset Medical Center physicians refer more than 400 patients requiring cardiac surgery and 800 patients requiring angioplasty out of the county. To express your support to allow Somerset Medical Center to proceed with a cardiac surgery program, visit our Regional Heart Center at somersetmedicalcenter.com to complete an online form, or write a letter addressed to Commissioner Clifton R. Lacy, MD, and mail it to: Dennis C. Miller, FACHE With your help, we can bring this lifesaving surgery to the Somerset County region. [ List of Articles | Calendar ] |
